In Lubbock, we support all types of people in our CLASS, HCS and Texas Home Living programs. Some consumers are very independent and only need assistance with grocery shopping, cooking and transportation while others may require more support with a variety of daily living skills. We offer the consumer and/or the family as much input as they desire when choosing their direct care staff and our RN is open to delegating medical tasks when applicable, which makes caring for your loved one at home more manageable.

Lubbock has always had good state survey results including several zero deficiency surveys over the last 9 years. WE are especially proud of the longevity of our administrative staff including our Administrator who has worked for AHS since 1998 and has 17 years experience planning and coordinating services for people with disabilities. Our Program Manager, Dianne Westbrook, has over 25 years experience and the Program Manager, Kristi Dunlap has 16 years experience.

Since the summer of 2007, AHS has opened two group homes (Crossings and Crosswinds) in Lubbock. Our homes are located in quiet and friendly neighborhoods. We currently have four openings within these group homes (three at Crosswinds and one at Crossings) and we are excited about filling these openings.

Here are what some of our consumers and families are saying about AHS.

“Services are great and I am becoming more independent.”-Anonymous

“I am extremely pleased with the services I receive from AHS, everyone goes out of their way to ensure my needs are met and I’ve been with AHS for five years. I don’t ever plan on changing my provider.” – C. Hurst

The Levelland Development Center provides services to individuals of all ages, including teenagers. The persons we serve experience a wide variety of cognitive and physical disabilities, including mental retardation, autism and Cerebral Palsy. A number of these residents also require full assistance with their daily activities, while others may need only a minimal amount of staff support. Many also require the services of our 24 hour/day on site nursing staff.

We pride ourselves in helping those people we serve to remain actively involved in the decision making process for their futures. We help them to achieve the goals they set for themselves, and our professional and caring staff constantly strives to assist with the development of activities that promote personal growth and independence. We are actively involved in the community and also enjoy the ability to remain connected to the families of those people that live at Levelland.

Recent comments from families of our residents include:

“LDC does a great job with my sister! She is happy and motivated to do activities that she has not done in over three years. The most important thing for our family to know is that she is happy and safe.”

“LDC has a structured and safe environment. They keep residents active and motivated throughout the day. When they have outings, like the Special Olympics, they volunteer their time off to participate and make the day fun. Their work and support is much appreciated.”
