The Longview (and Lufkin) Community Programs provide HCS, CLASS and Texas Home Living services to individuals of all ages, including adolescents in the CLASS program. Any individual with special needs would benefit from our services, and our most fragile individuals are supported in our CLASS program.

We feel our program is special because AHS employees are a dedicated team who are committed to individualizing services to the those we support. Based on each person’s plan, we work to ensure that needs are met whether it be by assisting with personal care needs, accompanying them for leisure activities in the community, helping an individual spend time with family and friends or gaining access to medical or vocational services. Our dedicated team of employees includes staff that has been here for over 10 years. This allows us to not only understand the dreams and hopes of those we support, but also how to help them integrate into the community within which we live.

In several counties in the Longview and Lufkin areas we also are a CLASS Direct Services provider. This means that we are able to directly provide you with all the habilitation services that you choose to help you lead the life you envision. These services could include nursing care, psychological therapy, physical therapy, adaptive supports and in home assistance. Beginning in Since February 2008 we have have been providing these services for the following counties (please note that these counties reflect two DADS areas - Longview and Lufkin):

A person should work with Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to get a referral to receive these valuable CLASS Direct Services from AHS.

In San Augustine and surrounding areas we provide assistance in daily living skills, social opportunities, home management skills and vocational skills. Home and Community Based Services assist people with residential supports, case management, nursing, supported employment, transportation, and respite services.

San Augustine is an ICF-MR that supports over 55 adults, many of whom have require significant amounts of nursing support due to medical or physical issues. We specialize in supporting individuals who are seeking to venture out into our small community. The Development Center is actively involved in many aspects of this community and our residents enjoy the fact that they experience the benefits in living in this wonderful East Texas town.
