Initiatives at AHS:

In addition to the supports described in the "Services we Provide" section, AHS is also committed to providing unique activities and education to those it supports.

Implementing a new medical record and information system (THERAP) aimed at ensuring that we are documenting thoroughly about each person we support;
Becoming one of the first Texas providers to receive special "Money Follows the Person funds" to allow people to move from larger institutions to smaller homes;
Establishing a partnership with Sirona Health to provide our HCS programs with state of the art 24 hour/day Registered Nursing coverage. This telephonic program allows us to obtain medical input at any time an individual we support needs it;
Increasing the availability and thoroughness of educational opportunities for all our employees (through Essential Learning). This includes educating all employees with intensive "hands on" experience with how to provide "Positive Behavior Supports";
Helping all persons that we support to achieve Community Integration and become their own Self-advocate;
A system wide emphasis on providing supports in the safest of settings.
Instituting the MindSet program for Effective Crisis Prevention as a system wide approach to avoiding, preventing and managing aggressive behaviors (for additional information on MindSet please go to www.mindsetconsulting.net).
