THERAP is so much more than a six letter word...

AHS realizes that communication between staff members is (in many ways) as important as how we communicate with those people we support. To enhance this communication, we are implementing a new program of charting, staff communication and unusual event tracking and reporting. The program is known as "Therap" and during July 2008 there is a major "kickoff" underway with all-staff being introduced to this program. The start date for this major systems improvement is scheduled for August 1, 2008.

Therap Services, LLC. is a web-based service organization that provides an integrated solution for documentation and communication needs of agencies providing support to people with disabilities, especially developmental disabilities. It offers an easy and efficient alternative to the immense amount of paper work that is done manually by the care providers. Staff that have completed the Therap training are excited by the flexibility that it offers as well as the way that it will increase their time with consumers (due to decreased paper work), increase the accuracy of how they monitor health issues (the program has an extensive section on physical health) and also how they will be able to communicate with each other (through a new secure intranet electronic mail system). It will also greatly enhance how AHS can monitor its program performance despite the geographical distribution of its activities. This will result in a much greater ability to provide each person within our program with more individualized and "up to date" support.
